Position Summary/Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and motivated IT Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining our IT infrastructure, as well as ensuring the successful deployment and integration of our real-time data acquisition (DAQ) devices for data streaming across multiple well sites to cloud servers and front-end displays. This role requires a proactive, solution-oriented professional with excellent technical and communication skills.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Hardware Setup and Remote Control:
- Configure, deploy, and integrate remote monitoring and control for our IoT (DAQ) devices
- Develop and maintain an inventory system for hardware tracking and management and secure data transfer between field, cloud and office display systems
- Collaborate with the operations team on effective and automated commissioning, tracking and KPIs for IoT devices
Client Network Integration:
- Collaborate with clients to implement network solutions for seamless interactions with hardware, cloud databases, and SaaS applications
- Manage access control systems for sensitive operational data
- Troubleshoot and resolve connectivity issues to ensure optimal performance
Corporate IT Infrastructure Management:
- Monitor, maintain, and upgrade internal IT systems and networks
- Ensure system security through the application of relevant technologies: firewalls, VPNs
- Provide leadership in maintaining a high-quality corporate data governance framework
- Develop incident response plans
Support and Troubleshooting:
- Provide technical support to internal teams and clients, addressing IT-related issues
- Document technical problems and solutions for future reference
System Development and Optimization:
- Collaborate with Software and Systems engineering during product design for IoT and SaaS scalability and performance
- Perform regular system audits to identify potential improvements
- Recommend and implement hardware and software upgrades
- Optimize network performance for real-time data processing requirements
- Develop automated alerting systems for data acquisition issues
- Design redundancy systems to prevent data loss during field operations
- Implement performance monitoring tools
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with other departments to ensure IT solutions align with business goals
- Train users on best practices and new systems
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate documentation of IT systems, processes, and troubleshooting steps
- Prepare reports on IT performance metrics and project updates
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
- Proven experience as an IT Engineer, Network Administrator, or similar role
- Strong knowledge of network systems, IT security, and remote access technologies
- Proficiency in inventory management and hardware setup
- Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with IoT devices, data collection technologies and control
- Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CCNA, or equivalent
- Experience with real-time data acquisition systems, cloud services, and virtualization platforms
- Understanding of oil and gas industry data protocols (MQTT, WITSML, OSDU)
- Familiarity with database management systems
- Knowledge of data visualization tools and dashboarding systems
- Knowledge of cybersecurity practices for industrial systems
- Experience with API integration and development
- Experience with implementing least privilege principle and role-based access control
- Experience with implementing intrusion detection systems
- Knowledge of automation and scripting

Work Environment & Travel
- This role requires working from the office in Austin, TX with potential for hybrid work after an initial discovery period.
- Occasional travel for system setup and support is required.
- On-call rotation for critical system support
